Excavators for tree work.

The only issue with size is that a smaller one will be cheaper, there would be no extraction, the site looks like nuke went off, 50% of the trees are on their sides and have re grown 20 - 30 foot tops from the side branches. we would be burning most of it as its not going to be much good for anything else. The place has seen no management for at least 20 years.

The site is a wet hole so any wheeled machines would be out of the question. I will compare prices of machines and see how much dearer a bigger one would be.:thumbup1:

dont waste your time with a rubber duck they have no protection underneath stumps will kill it go for a 13 tonner make sure it has aux circuit that is double acting for running extras hyundai and daewoo are cheaper makes and will suffice for this type of work its usually damage that kills with forestry apps not build quality

if you can move a 13 tonner on the site dont consider anything smaller, if you hire a standard plant hire company excavator, pipes will be ripped to pieces, steel pipes cracked, window smashed to pieces in days, and panels buggered. It will cost you a fortune in repairs (if all windows smash £600+ to start with. As you know, Clearance / Forestry work is harder on machines than any other industry cause of the unpredictability of timber and limbs. I would approach a demolition company, they will have replaced steel pipes with flexy so they can squash and not crack, windows will be guarded or will have poly carb and not glass. Some plant hire companies do hire demo 360's but usually only 20 tonne plus, and you will have to pay additional costs from another company for selector grab. If you manage to hire a demo companies excavator it may well have selector grab on it already and therefore be cheaper overall, also you wont have to pay additional costs for getting hydraulic fittings matched up. All steel pipes on our 15 tonner have been changed to flex, windows polycarb and pipes guarded along the boom and it still gets smashed and needs repairs weekly.
