Used the saw on sunday, stopped it for some sharpening tryed to restart it and nothing, wouldnt start monday either. Tuesday sprayed some wd40 into the carb and after a few pulls, fired up abit smoky, worked fine for the rest of the day.

What could have been the sympton and why would wd40 sort it out?

Maybe it would have started on tuesday anyway? Who knows. Why did you decide to use WD40 on it?

WD40 is like the footballers magic sponge!! Seems to cure everything that wasn't broke in the first place.

I seem to recall that the "WD" stands for "water displacer", so maybe you carb had Some water in it that was displaced, those curing the problem.

I'd say you just flooded it on Sunday and it was ok by Tuesday and the WD40 did nothing, well except make it smoke.:laugh1:

Usually its a bit of easy start thats gets sprayed into non starting engines, never tried it with a chainsaw though!
