Hi all just bought one of those Digi moisture, devices what is the ideal moisture content,i mean whens a log dry enough to burn, digitaly speaking.:001_rolleyes:

Unless your meter is an expensive professional model dont take to much notice of it. I have a cheap one and broom handles & dry stored pallets still read between 16-23%. You want around 20% or lower for your firewood, but dont just take your readings from the end of the log,try cutting it in half then take your reading. This moisture business is quite stange as you can burn green ash ok, but the reading could be 30% or higher???????:confused1:

Below 20%, 10-15% is better, but to achieve that you will need to have stored under cover, unless you are very lucky.

Which moisture meter did you go for, and how much ?

..to buy a dodgy meter.:laugh1:

I think you cant really get any lower than 15% unless its kiln dried, theres a lot of moisture in the air, especially in the UK!
