Im after a new car, opinions please??

Hi, Im after a new car, Need something thats goodish on juice, good on the motorway and reliable.

 

I was thinking VW Passat or VW Bora, along those lines.

 

Oh and ive got about 3 grand to spend.

 

What would people buy with around 3 grand?? Opinions please

what age you looking for?

your unlikely to get a bora for 3k unless its got stupid amount of miles on it.

if your going to do lots of motorway driving id go for a 1.9 tdi golf ive got a mark4 i can do south devon a weekend driving around down there and the journey back on one tank.

you budget is going to restrict the mileged you can get. passats go abit cheaper but go for turbo diesel though brilliant engines

I've a clio turbo diesel. 60 miles per gallon and £35 a year for tax.

Just had a quick browse on the trader site mate, Golfs do hold there money very well, I know my budget will restrict what i can get, i was thinking year 2000 onward and hopefully under 100,000 miles!

 

Also had a quick look at vectras and octavias, Need something of that size!

Skoda all the way. I had a fabia sdi estate, did 60 to the gallon and cruised at 90 all day.

Octavia for something a bit bigger, although its surprising what you get in the fabia estate.

 

And they are really just very good value for money volkswagens.
