what air rifle do you have?

Yep straight to Prision do not pass go do not eat any turkey lol My mates was 2ft lb over the legal limit when he bought it from his local gunsmiths. The old bill came down very very hard on all concerned. He got away with it because he bought it in good faith and goods as described etc.

At 30ft lb it must be on an FAC. Is it a factory job or did you up the power yourself?

 

Yeah it is on a FAC. I live in Northern Ireland and any Air rifle even an air rifle below 12 ft/lb has to be on a FAC. The rifle came from the factory at 30 ft/lb.

The trouble with 12 ft lb is that its a bit cruel on the bunny. I think all air rifles should be licensed and run at 20 ft lb at least. I,ve shot and skinned many a bunny and found old pellets lodged inside. Very cruel indeed.

Usually only use airgun on ferrels and rats. much prefer a rimfire for the bunnies. went out the other night and had a bit of a disapointing one. only 6 ferrels after the farmer had said there were hundreds... tried a bit of foxing after at a different site but didn't even get to put one through the .223.

 

need the luck to change so i can take a few bunnies back down south when i go

I use a rimfire myself, but have you ever seen a .17hmr in action. Its soft nose full metal jacket that flies straight for 100yds and if hits a stone or hard ground etc it just disintergrates making it much safer than a .22 rimfire. Yeah sorted rifle... got both a Anshutz .22 rimmy and .175 HMR. Both outstanding guns but must admit i prefer the .175. The .223 is a tikka T3, even better than the .175 but makes a damn mess of the bunnies but take the fox ok.

 

A bit of an old pic, some guns have changed but most are still in the collection.

Nice selection Rich, I have a fair bit of land to shoot over and an open ticket. If we work together in the future maybe we could have blat after. I,m not into fox shooting though I only kill what I,m going to eat. Here,s my bunny busters.

if you want foxes, come shooting with us-2 foxes on a half day phesant shoot!

My .22 has always been plenty powerfull enough as a bunny-stopper, at 11ft/lbs, its more a case of using the tool properly, picking your shot properly, estimating your range well, not taking a "pot-shot". I've found foxes rotting alive where bad marksmen have winged them, its not the weapon but the ability to use it that matters. I hate to make an animal suffer, and will pass up on a target if i doubt I can take it in one clean shot.
