Have you bought any powder recently? Prices have jumped by upto 50% a kg

PPU in .223 56gr is £36/100 and is pretty consistant out to 600yds, its difficult to handload for cheaper.

As for the rimmie, on a still day off sticks with a 2 1/2 mildot holdover, clean kills on 140yd rabbits using Eley+ subs

I also have better results at longer range with Sub Sonics.

I have read that because when Hyper Velocity projectiles slow down to from supersonic to Subsonic they become unstable. That process is call the Transonic phase.

Also the Hyper Velocity projectiles are lighter so they can be pushed faster.Light projectiles are not ideal for long range.

Good advice Dean

Another tip when shooting off a bipod. If you have removed the rubber feet from the legs and make some nice pointy ones on your dads Lathe.

Don't forget you have them when you shoot off the Bonnet of you mates new Hi Lux.

Ooops.

Last powder i bought was £40 a kilo for Vit N160 before that it was £26.

When i priced doing .223 for my mate they worked out cheaper than buying 17HMR per 100 i think it was 21 p per round with Vmax and Vit powder.

I think the semi is better in a group of rabbits as they dont seem to lock on to where the noise came from as it all happens together and they dont get a heads up with all the clicking of working a bolt action.

Yep you can see holes in a 1000 yard target where the bullet has been sideways on going through the paper! the change from super to sub aint great!

And i also have not had much luck with the .22 LR HV over 80 yards, Tight groups at 80 and 4" at 100!

Looks like a FN FAL 7.62X51.....also known as an SLR. One of the first 'real' rifles I ever fired. GREAT piece of kit.....

FN FAL's are select fire Rob.Also the Receivers are Metric.

L1A1 SLR's are semi auto only, have imperial receivers and the bolt dosn't hold open on the last round.

But you are right, the SLR is a version of the FN.
