wet weather delivery

As we spend a lot of time felling,processing and storing out nice hardwood, and making sure its dry ready to burn. How do we go about delivering it in the wet? I have been putting a tarp over it and then tipping it and then the customer covers it or leaves a cover. what do you guys do? does anyone even bother? i know seasoned wood dry very,very quickly if left in a good flow of air. Try telling that to customers.they dont believe it.

I wouldnt worry- it takes a fair bit of time for wood to soak up rainwater- most will run off anyway.

put it in a chip box then dump it at the customers then it is there problem

if it is lashing down - i just don't deliver (as we offer a delivery and stack service) and i don't like getting soaked

All in bags and I just cover the bags using small tarp and bungee customers they loves it!

I sell as solar dried so straight from the polytunnel onto the 7.5 tonne curtainside truck then IBC left on site with plastic sheet over the top tied round with baler twine. Customers seem to like it even thought of providing an IBC panel kit of 4 panels and a roof which clips to the IBC container.

Polytunnels can go up to 40 degrees C + in the summer... get a bit of breeze going through and you can't really beat it for fast cheap drying.

I need timber with moisture content no greater than 12% in order to make briquettes and wood pellets which I can achieve in a polytunnel whereas outside it is difficult to get below 20%. With split logs you can dry in 3 months whereas outside it could take a full year.

buy the time you tipped all the logs out infront of the customer all the dry ones will be on top anyway so they have less to complain about
