not a bad rope at all

marlow are also shortly bringing out a new gecko rope in a new colour named as "komodo".

main problem with all marlow ropes is they have a life span of six months.

all other ropes are two years!! so could prove to be a tad expensive?

never new it had 6months life span. dose that mean its unsafe after 6months even if there have bin no falls cut ect? and is that 6month climbing every day or 6months ownership? :(

You have to ask the question WHY IS IT CHEAP? what fibers is it made from? why does it only conform to a Marlow Rope Standard and not to the European CE EN1891 A or B standard like every other climbing rope on the market? Invest your money in a product which has proven its self time and time again and offers good prolonged life.

Hi I have a Marlow gecko rope and its nice to climb on. .

I would say that you do have to treat it gently when pulling it though as the strands are not tightly woven .If it gets caught on snags it can pull the rope apart and sever the strands this happened on my first rope within a week it had done this . they did exchange it for me . my second gecko has faired a bit better but again the same problem is happening .

When I buy another rope I will be going for a more expensive one as this one is not lasting very long.

hope this helps

Ive used it and didn't like much...It wears really fast aswell, only has a safe working life of 6 months and as posted above, doesn't meet standards other than the manufacturers....

Marlow gecko is easily the worst rope ive ever had the misfortune of climbing on!! Its heavy, bouncy and a nightmare to splice!!

If i was to pick a 16 strand rope then id say go for some yale xtc or some edelrid xp.
