Yes I do need it thin, about a mm, it has more flex in it then and it's for making my rings. I tried cutting some on my bandsaw but it seems to be really brittle so you can't bend it at all. I wonder if there will be anyone at the APF doing it?

to get thin pieces of wood on small bits of work i find that using a potato peeler on green wood works for me and then wash under cold water to get the sappy crap off. You will have a bit of playing time with the wood as its flexi because green, sometimes you can resoke it a few times if dries out too Depending on type of wood.

Think it needs to be steamed before its applied :001_unsure: , what wood is it your trying to cut?

I steam the veneer I buy so I can get tight bends with it, but with the bandsaw thin bits it just snap. They are a bit thinker though. I have some real nice blanks of purple heart and other exotic ones i'd like to use. The veneer i buy of those types of wood have quite a wide grain, so on a ring there's not much detail.

I was wondering about using a real good plane to get 1mm shavings, and they would come off curled up already wouldn't they? Do you think that would work on dried wood Ian?
