Last week I was told about a big holy on a job we were going to be working on. I got to see it yesterday. Its really big. We measured it at 18m tall and a diameter of 1.34m.

Does anybody know of any bigger hollys ?

Any one want to take a guess at its age ?

Wow mate, thats an amazing holly. The tallest i have ever seen in the deep valleys in cornwall ws about 25 foot- about 9m? It was in appalling condition and being held up by an oak.

A real corker!

There is a ride on the estate with a series of large holly. Not quite as large as that, but the largest is a single stem at perhaps 13-15m tall and 60cm diameter. Keep meaning to measure all the huge trees here, but always forget.

yikes, i thought it was a beech. I have done taller ones but they were scruffy skinny things that had been fighting for light. lucky if they were 12" wide. I have never seen one coppice at that height, usually from ground level. i can only imagine the crud, gunk, rocks and dead animals in middle of that:thumbdown::laugh1:
