Would you suggest a new saw?

Recently my 200t has decided to play up approx 5 years old now out of action

 

I have an older 020t which seems ok and still earns money for me

 

(also one other 020t that's a runner and seems ok and another that runs but is for spares)

 

Just wondering whether to plod on with the 020t's or due to the fact they are the tool that gets used the most, buy a new one at the Apf show that's going to last some years and be reliable and flog off the others??

Can't beat havin a new one and a spare mate if you don't get one at the show you might regret it if the saw breaks and you gotta pay full price

just pricing up etc i could get away with spending 80 quid on my saw to get it sorted.... or still to buy new?

 

the above 80 quid would consist of, new piston, crank seals new 14" bar (stihl) and chain

id be thinking about buying new, then for that money get your old one rebuilt, £80 is cheaper than having a breakdown & returning to a job the next day:thumbup1:

I think that if you can do al that for 80 notes then go for it- there isnt much else to go wrong after that, and itll be like a new saw anyway with all that lot .

it can only be your decision.

i personally would get a new one and keep a spare as someone already mentioned.

tarting an old one up will always be a hit and miss affair regarding reliability.

its ok getting new seals, piston etc but imo its always best as a back up saw as there are many other parts on it that can deteriorate.

a bit like hanging on to an old car and constantly repairing it.

was looking to do that, but i don't think there'll be any 200t's below the 400 mark at the show will there?
