Muppetry my end, unsure as to what this is in pics 1-3 and why it has a lot of wilt???

and a word of warning, drought stress this bad is often followed by armilaria, dont over do the watering in an attempt to save it little just a darn good soak and leave be, otherwise the temptation is to water and kill it with kindness, and waterlogged soil and a drought stressed tree is belissimo to armilaria

Could come back fine next year.

 

We had some mature Beech turn completely brown in August a few years ago, they were fine the following year and have been ever since.

if you trap a leaf between the index finger and thumb with both hands and pull along the axis gently if the leaf breaks but you get string like cords still attached then its a dog wood of some sort.

he asked what the tree was, so I was suggesting it was some form of dogwood possibly and how to check it was a dog wood!

 

when you break the leaf gently all dogwoods have little strings inside the leaf that remain attached when you pull apart the two halves.
