Oh so it is... jeez, I didn't realise they were that big :blink:

 

i got bit 3 times on the same hand the other day while doing some strimming. i had a balloon hand for a good few days!:thumbdown::sneaky2:

Sod that, I'm keeping a tennis racquet in the car from now on.. I think it will make a lovely "doonk" sound as I ace it into the foliage (and run away)

 

i rekon you could mount this fella above a fire place

I reckon that would be a Dark Giant Horsefly - Tabanus sudeticus - I've seen seen a few about this year. Heaviest two winged fly in Europe, and biggest fly in the UK!

 

They don't suck blood - they chew lumps off you and fly off with them by all accounts!!

According to insects of western europe: Females are voracious blood suckers attacking all large mammals including man, with their blade like mouth parts ..........
