I'm experimenting with this too using a martin hitch tied with very short legs. I too have noticed that the termination knot can catch the top of the hitch causing slippage though this only happens while acending so you tend to have hold of the rope anyway. I am experimenting with a 50cm loop between the hitchclimber and the puley for acending; this way you're pulling underneath the entire system and there's no worries about self tending. Once you get to the top you remove the loop and work as normal. I have not had enough time playing with this setup to decide if i really like it.

Tried the hitch climber today, big mistake my mongoose krabs are to big! Can anyone recommended a Krab that works well?

I have a spliced eye and a long vt but I'm concerned about the degree of contact between the edge of my eye and the movinf line through the vt.

i have at the moment a undercover and a small gecko. works well. want to change the undercover into a slim carabiner.

I have and am wary of it. It's better than using a fishermans/scaffold knot!!!

I don't have any evidence of damage but y'know one part is moving and one isn't... Hmmmm

i believe the recommended krabs are the petzl OK oval krabs

im going back to ball locks at capel. i wish they made them a little smaller though....maybe they do now, havent looked at their latest range.
