In The Netherlands it is the other way around, predominantly L. sulphureus and according to my documentation, only three times F. hepatica on Castanea.

Of the many threads the fung hunters have started having just re read this entire thread I feel this one needs very much to go sticky and be kept fresh and alive.

 

It is a very fine record and display of the implications of decay from various fungi, and I will be spending some time trying to add more to this thread. I had forgotten it till I was seeking out the photos I had lost of the Ganoderma resinaceum failure on pages 4.

 

this is a very very fine thread, deserving a hefty BUMP

meripilus and something else on beech, not sure what is causing the black demarcation lines, my first thought could be kretzschmaria deusta? this section of wood was part way up the stem, cant remember exactly!
