What Pete said. I used to use 3 wraps and 2 braids, then I switched cords (now on beeline) and that combo didn't work very well for me anymore. With beeline and yale fire rope combo I use 4 wraps and 3 braids. It varies with every persons size and rope/ hitch cord combo.

i tie my vt differently nearly everytime and it vaires as all my ropes are different diameters so tying all my cords to the same length to work on all ropes doesnt work for me. so long as the legs are the right length ive found any combination works well. i generally use 3-2 though.

3-4 wraps 2-3 braids usually adjust to what feels good and keep it like that on the rope for a while and that gets some nice glazing going on on my friction cord.

what rope and cord you guys find works best with a vt?

I've found the knute less fussy, and a nice hitch to use, almost as good as a VT

As I stated earlier..........I have been using the 4 wrap Knut hitch for several years. The 4 wrap configuration works well with what ever rope I use. The VT is much more fussy in that respect!
