So what did you mean? Haha

not sure the point im trying to get across is difficult to express on the interweb you get an old school climber for instance who has bad habbits annd post some pics on his work on here for instance or works with someone who likes things perfect. so everyone jumps on a band wagon and slags the bloke off yet he is exp and qualifed in the tasks he undertakes.

I also think as someone said 15 years isn't long enough to look back really good thread though.

I think 15's enough, so much has changed, and we ourselves change a great deal in a decade and a half.

The kits better, way better than it was back then, the saws are lighter for a start! I can still remember trying to start the old sthil 051 up in a big tree, no chain brakes back then! I didnt even own a set of spikes for the first ten years! i think thats a good technique teacher!

i didnt know what those ganodermas where, let alone each ones implications!

dead or alive, rotten or sound, i climbed as though my life depended on it, wild style by the seat of my pants, like i was imortal!:laugh1:

thank god i wised up!:001_cool:

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with what you said. Haha

not having a go. Just seemed to me that you implied that having NPTC chainsaw operations certs make you an arborist? It makes you a tree cutter. Lol

when i first started i thought my boss was nuts and couldnt believe how he made a job i thought was very hard and technical look so easy and simple. I would be there with all my lovely new kit and taking my time keeping all the groundies happy by climbing loads and giving them very little to do on the ground, then the boss would turn up, grab an old harnes and a side strop, clip on a saw and scale the tree like a monkey and crash it out in about 6 cuts and shim down and head off to the next job, the groundies were never happy but his climbing and cuts were amazing.

That's alright. Try harder next time though haha. I'm a simple tree cutter and need everything explaining in as plain text as possible lol.
