damn... im reading all this and i have to help weld a barge together this weekend.

it has a 3 phase generator and mig welder on board already and its sitting on the river. might need an earth cable somewhere?

You should be alright 415v ac not so bad but could still turn your hair curly

I would put an earth spike on the bank and make sure genset is earthed to barge.

managed to get the generator on to the bank and earth it but didnt do the mig all going well though and got the first section done, that was the hardest as it had to be cock on for the rest of it to fit
