when you see the damage that the wild pigs are doing to the ground around the kauri and carrying the pathogen its hard to believe that humans are increasing the disease much. That said our gear was cleaned before we went into the bush and cleaned on leaving the bush. THese trees are up to 1500yrs old and have seen this disease before and will see it again-personally i think they will ride it out and become a stronger strain because of it-i may be wrong but hopefully this vid might make some of the public aware of there sheer importance to NZ and so more research gets done in saving them. but thats just my thoughts on the subject, others will differ.

i cant get it to work Drew. It wont go by the first 12 secs.

In the top right of the video screen it says HD. Turn it off and it should work. I had the same trouble and it took me ages to figure it out.

Nice film Drew. Making me want to go back to NZ though :001_unsure:

Just found it on youtube.

Great stuff Drew!!!

Was searching for videos of Kauris, because we had a visit yesterday from New Zealand and I realized that I had no idea about the trees youve got!

Excellent vid!

The story of the Kauri tree in New Zealand is amazing and also tragic...

.... another example of the 'good ol days' where the entire country was 94% stripped (in just one century) of a tree that can live for thousands of years and only exists in New Zealand.

Must be amazing to climb a tree like this
