feeder roller question !

im not sure if its me or not but today while using the chipper the bottom feeder roller seems to me like its dropped down more than usual ? everything still works they both rotate an the top one goes up and down like it should but it still seems like its to low as i never remember being able to look through and see the anvil ?:confused1:as far as im aware the bottom roller is in a fixed position right ? any ideas or is it just me being paranoid ? its a entec chippet if that helps

Make and model would be helpful. Is the machine still dragging small stuff in?

 

The bottom roller can drop if a bearing fails but it usually goes on one side. As a quick check with the engine off put the feed control in the stop position and put a pry bar or similar between the anvil and roller there shouldn’t be any movement other than a little rotation.

 

Are you sure it’s not the top roller not getting all the way down?

yeh i did think that maybe a peice of chip was wedged somewhere but because everything is still running i havnt investigated further :sneaky2:it does seem that when feeding it there is a clonking sound when the top roller goes up and down like its sort of a bit jolty ? instead of a smooth feed :confused1:

no the small stuff is a bit of a pain by small i mean say less than an inch, the bottom roller is dead flat not dropped to one side , its gota be the top one then hasnt it ! if i hadnt started work at 5 30 this morn i would have taken a few pics and had a further look but all that went out the window when 5 oclock came around !
