If you are going to join a guild, group or assossiation then join one that specailises in arb is what I reckon.

They have emailed me too and probably every tom dick and harry (no offense to Toms, Dicks or Harrys) in the country, they say there entrance requirements are strict, how strict is a BIG question IMO

I wouldn't want to have to pay a membership fee to only have to jump through very very small profit generating hoops if you get my drift

Oh yes I have heard of them. I usually don't think forums are the place to bad mouth companies but for this lot I will make the exception.

My actual thoughts are unprinatable but when it came to the crunch they were as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike. Read the small print as if your life depended on it and, if you still think its a good idea then go and lie down for a while.

I've had a call from a similar company and put a thread up about them, Guild of master tradesman could be the same mob. They sounded well dodgy! The wife took a call the other day from someone asking to speak to the company director ( can you be a company director when there's on one of you? ) They asked if it would be interested in doing tree work for local schools in my area.

Am going to join the Arboricultural Association some time soon.

I did a while as a member of the guild of master craftsmen years ago, I felt I needed to distance myself from some of the local 'cowboy outfits'. I then joined a similar organisation (I think it was called the 'league of craftsmen' or similar, which was more helpful and provided me with a payment collection service which was excellent, and an office answering service, which was a life saver and increased inquiries by 25%!.

I also joined the National Arborist Assoc, again they were really helpful with the running of the company (I think they are now the Tree care industry assoc). I've climbed for 3 different AA approved contractors and they don't seem to get anything (and probably a lot less) than I got with the NAA/TCIA.

I was also a member of 'The Guild of Master Craftsmen'. In my opinion they just want you to pay for the use of their logo.

Give them three refrences who got phone calls asking if I was any good....but never checked.

Never felt that I got any more phone calls or work from it.....so never carried on paying to be a member.
