I'm afraid not, no laws will get you the tree work you want in this case. Perhaps you should consider kindly convincing your neighbours into getting it reduced with an offer to split the cost. Diplomacy is the key. Fueds are not.

If there were a law then every tree on a boundary would have to be topped! Just get it thinned out, a let the light through, or fell it. Don't go and create future works just for a short term extra bit of light.

If its decidous then you'll get plenty light in the winter when you really need it and in the summer just go out side.

i was lead to believe if you involve your local council they will do a site visit and say what height they should be depending taking into consideration where the trees are and this will cost you,if the council feel they should be reduced they would serve a notice to the owner of the trees ps this is only what i was told
