I have been in buisness for just over a year now but feel i need a side line landscaping work is as over catered for and tree work in my area west mid /worcs and has the same small market as tree work

Almost every client i have wants firewood be it for themselves or friends with gas and fossil only going on the up bio fuel logs must be the only real alternative

now for some odd qs

does anyone on here sell bio fuel chippings is it a viable buisness yet?

how many 1t builders bags of chopped loggs do you get from a tonne of cord wood?

what kind of investment is sufficent for a wood fuel buisness i already have a large yard with hardstanding big saws trailers and tipper

and any profit /expediture info would be great i know its personal but you lot are the experts

Do you have your own supply of firewood ie local estates or woodland management etc if you have it could be viable,if you have to buy in it may not be so profitable hardwood down here is 42 pound plus vat per meter delivered,so youll have to shift alot to make it pay, also anything you buy now will need a good while to dry out,so in a nutshell its a good idea but it takes a bit of planning but have a go whats the worse that can happen cheers DB.

Go buy some standing wood ,fell it ,extract it, buy proceseor to cut logs, lots of adverts, shinney tiping truck ( thats for a bussines)

Side line either buy standing wood handball it out or buy wood in get saw and axe work hard for not much monney. But its free advertising.

I know someone who has a woodchip fuel bussiness using a huge chipper but its not viable i doubt it ever will be for various reasons.

Cant realy answer the other questions

Thats not a sarcastic post just my opinon:001_smile:

Or sell the lot that sits in your yard at the end of the year! I do a woodyard that supplies firewood do they turn up with tractors trailers, cut it, split it and extract it all from my yard over the winter. Yeah i could make more off doing it myself people tell me but when i think about it its too much work to really pay for itsef buy hand.
