yeah I spotted some here in cannock the other day. Turns out its a leaf miner from a moth, nothing can be done about it. The moth came over from europe in 2002 and first struck in Wimbledon area and it has been spreading ever since!!

Yes have noticed several in both devon and somerset all looking a combination of off colour, wilted, rust, and dropping leaves - a result of the dry weather maybe?

Can also affect wingnuts,Once your seeing it and the leaves drop, bag them and burn or hot compost.

A 3 inch layer of prunus chippings under the canopy will help a bit.

Most of the Horse Chestnut trees on the estate are looking rough. Seems this year we've been hit very hard with it. You can pick them out on the wood edges from the roads as they're so brown. Also most of the Oaks are looking quite ropey.

RUPERT on here wrote a very good paper on this,pm him and see if he can let you have it,very comprehensive, brilliantly presented.

Makes a good informative refference.
