applamatum or what?

Went for a walk in a small wood in Barnet today. (very nice it were). Lots of stacked and fallen deadwood. Was early in morn and wasnt quite awke so although i took the photos I didnt get round to looking in more detail as to what species. Is it applamatum?

I believe it may be G. adspersum

 

at least this way one of us is correct

too smooth for Australe kiddo, defo Applanatum, there is also a drip coming from the body, possibly from entry point/ovipositation via the flat footed fly.

 

fact its on dead is the giveaway too

For ident on G. Adspersum / G. Applanatum

I always remembered it by by looking at the rim add-spersum had thicker rim that curls ie it add -sum so you have an instant recognition

It has taken me ten years to be 99% certain of idents on these two fungi, I still occasionaly have trouble, they can be very difficult to diferentiate.

 

NEVER be so certain you dont look at all the evidence, these two will make a monkey out of the best of us at times, and dont let ANYONE tell you otherwise!
