Xp oil

when I was working for fountains, we had a load of trouble with saws nipping

That was probably something to do with the fact that many of the muppets that work for fountains seem to feel the need to rev the nuts off their saws at every opportunity, when they first start them, before a cut, after a cut, walking between trees, I could never really understand it,they seemed to think if you made more noise you were getting more done??????:dontknow::bash::crazy:

I run all mine on aspen pre-mixed now, its sold by husky so if it causes a problem with my saws i would expect husky to deal with it.

i think any low smoke 2stoke oil at the correct mix ratio will be fine, sounds like hes feeding you a line to get you to buy the most expensive oil they have.

Also why the need to shop around for a low cost surely its only a few quid for a container? it will cost more either driving to collect it or having it shipped the you will save unless your buying say 20litres?

Husky are bringing out a fuel senser on there saws that wont let them evan fire if the mix is wrong...the rep told me i will have to run xp oil when this is a feature and should be running it now but i have never had any problems using the stihl but stihl also are recomending you use there super oil on pro saws as well.

oh great i can imagine how many small sensors that will involve! and i guess that will probably mean no more working on your own saws when they pack up. Have to say i dont think i be to keen sending saws into our local guys to be fixed!

sorry to derail the thead a bit, is this system and advancement on stihls intelli carb, which means that you cant set the carb manually so the emmissions will always be ok? I can see a point where you have and extra filler for 2 stroke mix and the saw will mix it for you like on 2stroke bikes.

That sounds a good idea for those with numpty employees - in this day and age of rushing around to get jobs done it could be a costly mistake

I suppose you can see where they're coming from (Obviously they're going to want us all to spend as much as possible) as Pro saws are usually fairly highly strung and are likely to be worked hard. That said though I've not come across many nipped saws - maybe the amount of 357's nipping is a bad batch?

Maybe, but then there'll always be someone who forgets or the pump will clog - IMO just something else to go wrong and add weight.

Did hear the other day that some companies have had timers fitted to saws so that you can only use them for a limited amount of time between breaks - H&S gone mad me thinks :scared:

had that on a John deere combine a few years back, came up with an error message and shut the engine down, had to get in touch with JD germany to find out what the hell it ment, turned out it was as the driver hadent been off the seat for 7hrs! trouble was we wasted a whole afternoon as we didnt dare to restart it! :cussing:

moral : to much technology can be a bad thing! (although it did mean the driver had a good break :icon14: )

I am using XP oil, only because thats what the dealer had in the size i wanted at the time. It was that or sthil and as hits an Xp I thought i'd use it, I also use the little 1 shots, no problems on my saws but I always let my saws run for a minute or two at the start of the day.
