Oil rigs

there was a program on the telly last year saying how the oil industry in loosing skilled guys through retirement, there were apprenticeships starting at 45k a year, woop woop i say. I think its like anything else, apply to a company, do as they say, get some interviews and medicals and get stuck in, if you know someone who already works there it can only help i say

I worked on rigs in Egypt & Libya some years ago, it was mainly 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off (thats unless your relief didnt turn up !).

Its important to remember that almost everyone working on the rig will be a contractor, or subcontractor, so there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of companies worldwide supplying services that you could apply to.

My mate does a month on then a month off, He does under water welding, The pics look so cool :thumbup1::laugh1:

 

 

He likes it, It is what it is, Exceptional pay, conditions he says are good, Although obviously its not home, Some good bits some bad bits, He sent me a video of him deep sea welding at 3am it was mental.

Sorry mate, couldn't resist.

 

One of my mates is a driller, he works 2 months on 2 months off generally.

 

Last time I saw him he was headed for a dodgy part of Africa, and been sent on some kind of 'pirate awareness' courses. Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggghhhh Jim Lad!

 

There's no trees growing on the rigs, you know?

Cheers guys, i think a bit of post-crete would do the job for bp :lol:

I've just finished uni and I really enjoy tree surgery/forestry, but then theres not a lot of money in it.... a friend of mine was on about going on the rigs so just looking at options really :001_smile:
