Most Dangerous Job

I was talking to an Insurance salesman about most dangerous Jobs.

 

He reckoned that Window Cleaner was on the insurance list of most dangerous job.

 

I said put a chainsaw in their hands and it might be somewhere near comparable to Tree Surgery!

 

Me thinks insurance companies base their figures on most claimed Jobs rather than most dangerous when compiling these figures.

 

What are your thoughts on where Tree Surgery comes on the Dangerous job list.

hmm, personally I think its a tough one.

 

it's dangerous, but everyone in it KNOWS it's dangerous and so look at all the measures taken to control that danger.

 

if i recall, farming is responsible for the most fatalities across europe or something.

 

because it can be fairly dangerous at times, but nobody thinks it is, so lack of concentration and complacency, and that general farmer 'cocking about' demeaner leads to lots of accidents

I think where in the top 10 most dangerous jobs, somewhere inbetween farming and the fishing industry {deadliest catch}. IMO

I don't know where he got his figures from but we were third and window cleaning came out tops.

 

Window cleaning is a job where, because you are up and down ladders all the time, you can become complacent about placement of ladders.

 

In my veiw, thats not dangerous, thats just dumb ass.

As far as I want insurers to know, Arboriculture is one of the SAFEST jobs in the world.

There should be a no claims bonus scheme with the Arb industry

Before the latest war in Iraq took off I remember watching a programme called "Motorway" on Central TV and it stated that Highways agency crews and contractors had a higher mortality rate than front line troops. Its a dangerous job now but sadly I thing the Iraq war has turned the above around.

The fishing industry and the logging industry flip flop every year as to being the number one and number two most deaths per hundred.

According to one survey the BBC released figures on, forstry was the 7th most dangerous job in the UK and the 1st most dangerous job in the US. It didn't say what the difference was down to, but I suspect it's down to we in the Uk are regulated differently to the US.

 

Might be because in the U.k, there's only a tiny number of people in Forestry whereas abroad Forestry is still a big industry.

 

Reckon the reason Farming has so many casualties is largely down to the large numbers of Numpties that are found within farming
