Thinking about switching my business banking to HSBC's Business Direct Account.

Anyone use this or any other HSBC account? Any good or bad points?

Not especially unhappy with my current bank, but since I moved to Cambs its now a hour and a half round trip to my nearest branch in Cambridge city centre and I have to pay for parking.

HSBC have a branch 4 miles away and I can park the 18 tonner on double yellows outside. Sure it will be ok if I leave the flashing lights on, after all, I'd like to see them get a standard wheelclamp on her!

I have started using Alliance and Leicester for business banking. Very useful as you can use any post office as if it were a branch, in that you can pay money in with a deposit card and it shows on your account immediately. I'm finding it very useful as there is a post office down the road, but its miles to my nearest bank:thumbup1:

I used to use them, didnt get on too well. My local post office isnt particularly reliable either.

Strange how 2 people can have very different experiences of exactly the same service isn't it. I have found them very good, although I do wish my little local PO wouldn't close for lunch. I always seem to have to do some banking between 1 and 2, and never seem to remember they will be closed till I get there, maybe being stupid doesn't help:blushing:

I used to business bank with HSBC, 10 years ago it was great they had a business account manager in every branch, ours was a top bloke I used to have a direct dial straight to his desk he was amazingly helpfull. They also used to have a paying in machine on the outside wall so I could swing in the market place at silly am and drop cheques off with the landy and trailer. Then one day they made the business manager redundant and we only used to get phone calls from the business support desk located in islamabad or somewhere equally as far flung when they wanted to sell you something, then to top it off they removed the paying in machine and everything had to be done inside the branch between 9 & 4.30 monday to friday!

I closed my HSBC business acount this year and wont be going back!

Internet banking is good with HSBC, and they clear cheques in 3 days MOST of the time.

They won't give you an overdraft for a year, though, and if you want to talk to a human being about any problems it is impossible over the phone.

Proximity to branch is why I went with them, and TBH most of my gripes are because I never have enough money in my account!

Peter, I was just about to start a thread on the general overall service, that we receive from business banks. I will follow this with interest as it might cover some of points that I was going to mention. I business bank with the Bank of Scotland and previously used Royal Bank of Scotland. I would say there is not a straw to pick between them, they are both RUBBISH,
