Didn't click it was the great man himself steve,did you ever see that article in the forest journal with him felling out half a 300footer with a large cast on his leg!.Felling big dangerous trees like that still give me the jitters!Every day is a school day as they say.You can learn so much from the old hands i think.:001_smile:

i bet that was one hell of a ring twitching experience! that guy is truly a legend looking at his previous experience!

 

imagine felling that with a 260 with a 15" bar :P

Good of Gerry to post the vid.

 

'High Climbers and Timber Fallers' is the best big timber book ever written, especially the chapter 'Rockport' where, as said earlier, he fells a 150' top out of a 300' Redwood. The pics of him one-handing an 090 with a 7-foot bar have to be seen to be believed.

 

These vids where things go a bit pear-shaped can be just as educational as the ones that are faultless IMO.
