debate is good IMO when conducted properly, how else can we learn from one another. And ive got more learning to do than most :)

In my opinion to get through you test you dont need a wirecore flipline - but you will need one in the future. (Your assessor may ask about their use though)

Its as with all things - 'you pays your money, you takes your choice'

i wouldnt go for the wire core one first as you wont be using a saw in the air for a while and a rope lanyard will be easier to use in the tree (except on stems) for general climbing. also a heap cheaper. a little french prussick on it with a pulley will do the job as a lanyard adjuster.
