An absolute outrage

You have to have driven LGV’s to realise how little some drivers understand driving.

She undertook and tried to get in front of the artic. The closing speed would have been minimal so no big crunching impact and the suspended cab would have insulated the driver from the coming together.

I can understand how it happened and having driven that make and model, I can understand how he didn’t see the car. The drag would have been little more than a gentle incline and well within the grunt of the artic.

A modern truck cab is a quiet place so what I can’t understand is, assuming the clio driver sounded her horn, how did the driver miss that and presumably the squeal of the tyres.

Dean.

How long has it been since you drove an HGV on a daily basis?

Even in the last ten years the insulating in the cabs had lept forward.

If the impact was light, the stereo up and the model of Truck has a noticable blind spot then the court decided.

She sounded her horn again and again, other drivers tried to get his attention and failed, other cars sounded their horn......

other drivers sounding their horn is irrelevant imo, do you perform an emergancy stop everytime someone sounds their horn?

While I'd admit that he maybe should have been paying more attention to where the car had disappeared to I feel he needs a bit of slack. If your short (like me) it's actually very hard/impossible to see the first 10ft in front of you.

What he should have noticed is a car going past him and then disappearing....

Still sounds like he was in the right to me, but we'll probably never know the full story.

The last truck I drove was a brand new iveco 18 tonner 3000 miles to bulgaria, I mustn't have run over any cars on the way because I never saw a load of people hanging out of their car windows screaming and shouting at me.

The guy should have been aware what was going on around him, he should have noticed cars coming onto the slip, what was on the slip and their whereabouts after.

He must have notice the car in his nearside mirror then must have wondered where it had gone ???
