Another newbie loler question

I'm hoping to start aquiring some climbing kit of my own (i currently use my employers). If i record the purchase/firts use date and it is inspected regularly by myself and recorded, can I at a future date decide to start using it in a commercial environment and get it lolered without any worries? I dont want to spend money on lots of kit then come to get it checked in the future and find my paperwork isnt up to scratch!

Also, while i'm on the topic of loler. If I get some friction hitch cord and make up some prussic loops to keep as a dedicated rescue kit which doesnt get used other than for practice or the real deal. Even with next to no use do they still need to be retired after the reccommended length of time or can they be kept longer so long as they are in good condition and pass loler?

Basicly if you buy new you kit doesn't need to be loler'd until 6 months has passed. This is for all kit from first use date, even if its used now and again for rescue practice.

My kits going to be loler'd tomorrow and half of my rigging kit is less than 3 months old but i'd rather get it done together so all my kit runs out at the same time.

Is it still possible to do it if you forget/not able to do the 6 month period of will a LOLER inspector just say its now redudent?

Sorry for the hijack:001_smile:

I'll tell you when i pick my kit up on thursday as i've got a rope that missed the last inspection so im sure as it hasn't been used should pass the loler.

No, it will be inspected just like any other kit but you shouldn’t use it until it is in test.

Think of it like an MOT. You can own a car without test but you shouldn’t drive it.
