Looking good Dave,the kids must of taken there toll!!:001_tongue:.............only joking mate.

 

The cables were looking very constricting when i was there. I was quite surprised that they've been left for so long to get this bad:confused1:

 

The Fomes were about 4ft up but there was loads more all over the tree spreading from the base to about 10ft.

 

 

Ive also never wanted to jump a fence and climb a tree so bad in my life!

The cables are probably still there because nobody in the local authority/governing body for this area has had the intiative to think of removing them and probably won't until someone smart as yourself suggests it old snake. And yea I would have been straight over that fence haha

I went to sherwood forest about a year ago and i agree with paradise i think the major oak should be left alone, remove the supports and let it be. if i'm honest i was a little dissapointed, although i think the metal work adds to the character and is obviously a big part of the history of the tree.
