I believe so, i dont own either so cant put to the test but from what i have seen the GCRS has more lifting power and is easyer to do so.. i keep toying with the idea of buying a self tailing winch off ebay and making my own!

The lifting power of the GRCS is great.

The Hobbs lift capacity is really just for pretensioning lines.

When it comes to Boshing big chunks, the Hobbs wins hands down.

So you really just want the ability of a large bollard then mike???the new stein stuff would fill this great i recon @ around £300 for the big bollard its a bargain!

Have you not seen Reg's video of him lifting a tracked chipper over a wall with his Hobbs then?

The way the Hobbs is set up,continuous winching is an arse pain.

I destroyed a GRCS Winch in Canada.

Matty.I like enough tension on a Chog that when I release it,it pops off and falls over.If you pre tension big bits on the Harkon winch the GRCS has and them snubb it off,you are asking for Trouble. Most of the big stuff we do,we grab the chunks with a digger once they are down. They don't see a saw again,so rigging big is efficient for us.
