One for DMM/treemagineers

Could would it be possible for the guys at DMM/treemagineers to produce a smaller carabiner so that it keeps my dead end knot below the top of my friction hitch on my HC please? I don't know if this happens to anyone else but when I've just pulled in a bit of slack the hitch is lower than my fishermans/bowline which then holds on the top, giving me an occasional self descending system which I am wary of and haven't dropped any decent distance but would prefer not to have to worry about!

I was thinking a small almost round one might do the trick

Fair enough but my ropes don't have spliced eyes and I don't know anyone who can splice in the area.

It would be nice to have a hc/vt system which didn't dictate the need for a splice though.

I'm pretty sure a few people would have been put off the hc who don't have a splice also for this reason.

For me.... i guess i'll just have to stick it out till i need a new rope.

You can't put a splice on a used rope anyway so yes, you'll have to wait till you get a new rope.

But, if you are using a VT you don't have to do it with a HC. Other pulleys are available and some work ok ish with a termination knot. Splices are generally better allround though, except for blakes and prussik systems where it really doesn't matter that much.

I know dude, i really should but I've been on a fishermans for a while now and i prefer it, and what with all the mahooosive trees i climb every day i dont want to have to keep retying as i've used that extra foot of rope in my termination

if things aint so smooth from the middle hoop then i'll go for a big bowline.

I still think dmm should make me a carabina though :001_tt2:
