over the past few days ive been doing some smaller lifts, reductions with a pollard or two chucked in there too, nothing too major so ive been climbing on my hc with my stopper tied directly in to the top attachment hoop once my main anchor is in, (retying the stopper while accessing the tree is too laborious) and not once has my termination cought the top of my vt!

if the top attachment loop was textile friendly i would do this all the time (until i have a splice) and would recommend the same technique to all who don't have a splice, but only if I knew there was no danger of the pulley cutting through the termination in the event of a fall (does anyone know where this could be tested), until then I'm back giving my hitch a knock while i dream of some new velocity with a splice
