Oak Milling - Sachs Dolmar 166

Finally got hold of a Sachs Dolmar 166 (thanks to TCD), the biggest in the Sachs Dolmar range, 118cc!

 

Its amazing, in such good condition too! Still waiting for the 44" bar to come in the post, but had a go with it yesturday with my pretty much brand new 36" Oregon Bar

 

Cutting up a big piece of oak so it would it on the band saw, took the first slab off with the alaskan, rolled it with the tractor, then took the next slab off by nailing a rail along the side and just following it with the saw, dunno why i decided to do it like that lol

thanks guys, been milling up at this place for a while so heres what we have milled so far, spec is 1" any width, any length, for floor boards for doing up an house house or somthing

Get that 166 insured mate! Just been reading some USA sites re the 166. Seems movements have slowed globally and rarity is going up another notch! Good condition one recently made $2000 !

Hi TCD, I have a Sperber double ended mill and fancy a Dolmar 166 with a helper handle on the other end, do you know of any 166's available? I have 2x 123's and a 133 !

That some saw aint it Ace. It really snarls! I had a go with it a while ago whilst working with TCD cutting up a beech you and grandad would have been proud of.

How do you find it mills compared to an 880 Liam?

 

I'd like one of these or an 090 for the big bars.

How do you find it mills compared to an 880 Liam?

 

I'd like one of these or an 090 for the big bars.

i've never used an 880 on a mill so i cant compare ahaha, its either this or a 153, i even had the 123 on there a while back doing some softwood

 

from what i saw of you using the 880 at the apf it did look quicker, but i dont have a ripping chain for my 4ft or 3ft bars, so that does make it slower. Plus the 880 has more power, but may just have a bit less torque.
