more wondering about lowering gear, poles saws, big saw, insurance etc.

what's the industry norm. do subbies provide that or does the team? Sawdust and i get by with a bit of give and take (don't we???:001_huh:) i know i could work on my time keeping though, and my climbing saw is ******)

what about you other guys? who provides the peripheral gear. Rigging, poless, big saws.

Has anyone had the **** hit the fan when subbing for someone else, consequently how did the insurance claim run?

You don't need insurance if you are climbing with another team.

You could write out a shoping list. So X amount per day for basic then add 10 for every other saw needed, plus 50 for a full rigging kit, etc etc.

If the wotsit hits the fan, go home! Not your problem. The company chose to hire you in, so any mistake is their mistake. True subcontracting would only occur if the subbie is bringing his own groundcrew and taking over the site without assistance from the original company.

I've been sayign this for ages, but I'm still more than happy to be proven wrong, if there any self employed climbers who have had to claim on their insurance while working for another company then I would love to hear how it went.

Thats not a very responsable attitude in my opinion. if you are doing a job as a subbie or on your own it should be done right and if you mess up then take responsabilty for it, there are to many people about passing the buck, thats why this country is in the state its in.

If you came and worked for me and a bad accident happened (demolished conservatory or something) it would be MY insurance that it went threw, Not yours, As its my job!!
