you are responsible, I worked for a guy many moons ago and he brought down the lv at a boarding school big style and he was held acccountable for the damage but his insurance payed out.

WPD regs say that climbers, trees and anything else must not enter the live zone, Less than 3m. If your tree is 10m away you will be fine as long as everything drops straight to the ground.

thancks for the replys eg the closest branch tip would be 10m away ,3 wires sheathed ,

 

I would be more than happy working that far from the lines espesialy as they are sheathed.

 

I would'nt bother informing anyone.

 

This is imo & i'm sure I am prob wrong doing so for some reasson so listen to some people who do the utility work day in day out..

Exactly my point!

 

There seemes to be lots of "in my opinion" but the distances are always different.

 

My point is, at what point is it accepted you have taken reasonable precautions?

 

Various bodies give advice, but seem to differ to each other and everyone has their own "opinion".

 

We even have someone who does line clearance saying its ok to "bounce stuff off" wires:001_huh:

 

Come on guys, i, like many others reading this dont know the deffinate answer but there are a lot of people viewing this thread who may take an unnecessary risk.
