Having thought about it, i think the heron thing is possible. The trees were near a river. Now, they arn't many herons up here, but I often see one on this stretch of the river. They was also a couple of dead frogs on the ground, and the frogspawn was on the top of a large horizontal limb. Just the place to take a meal

Then there are those little slugs you find up the very top of trees.

 

Must take them days to get all the way up there.

 

sometimes feel a little guilty when the log they are sat on goes south.....

was there any signs of herron droppings matt?

 

Have learnt a thing or two from the forum's recently. However, I never thought I'd be asking exactly how do you identify. heron cr.p form any other bird cr.p?:confused1:
