Thing is no carabiners have the wording "for climbing life support" wrote next to them when advertised. If you've got 2 identical carabiners listed next to each other under the heading 'climbing hardware - carabiners', one a screwgate, one a 3 way, it's pretty obvious that they're both intended to be used for climbing.

Obviously plenty of people still buy screwgates for climbing or there wouldn't be so many suppliers selling them.

There are still a few suppliers selling screwgates, cant understand why though as everyone should be using 3 way self locking twistlocks or similar.

You're clutching at straws Steve - what are they to be used for if not climbing - bit extreme for a chainsaw clip and not man enough for any major rigging applications, it's obvious they are being sold for climbing, not that you will admit it because you don't want to honour your bet.

Agree. I only use 3 way crabs. Just trying to point out that some arb suppliers still do sell screwgates for climbing, don't know why some can't just accept this?:icon14:

The work at height regs 2005 relating to arboriculture state that only 3 way self locking biners should be used for climbing attachment.

The dealers that are advertising screwgates for climbing cant be taken seriously as credible arb dealers.
