I have a big SILKY SUGOI.

A bit unweildy in tight conifers but the ivy cutting lip at the end makes a great hook for reaching the cut brash instead of leaning right out over the edge of the cypress hedges.

 

To be honest I probably use it as a hook at least as much as I use it for sawing. Been using it solidly for about 8 months and it's still pretty sharp.

The only down side is that the sheath fills up with sawdust and junk fast. The hole for lettsing the bits fall out the bottom is too small. What this causes is the blade to not sit down far enough. Then when you grab it you have to be very carefull not to grab the teeth. Used up several stitches and plasters because of this. I am thinking about cutting the tip off the sheath to help with this problem. Apart from that the saw itself is awsome.

zubat 330 and little orange spatha for me. small spatha has serated portion to blade while bigger one doesnt. will get big one as extra when i get round to it though, mainly cos i like knives.... bit of a collector.

hi everyone, i only just joined up, love my gomtaro saw i drifted to others in the silky range but for some reason i keep going back to gomtaro. oh and spatha every time 8 quid i think so no dearer then a pen knife.

At one point in my silky wild days, I used to climb with an Ibuki (their biggest saw) and a gomtaro on my harness, only using the top hangle when I absolutely had to.

another reason why the gomtaro sells its self to me is on sectionals when you want that little bit more cut but no need for the o2o to be started a few pulls with the gomtaro does the trick where as a curved saw wont do it.

I find a harness and roap work better, my sugoi is very good at cutting branches though :wave:

I broke my extending pruner, so emailed silky to see if they sold spares direct.

 

I had a phone call the day after, asking me which part and they gave me the price. They asked me if I wanted them to send the part.

 

I said, I was at work and din't have a payment method.

 

No problem, they said, we will send it to you and send a cheque by return post.

 

Credit where it's due, outstanding customer service there Silky Fox, a rare comodity.

 

Shame Bandit (BeRecyling) didn't have the same customer service, they have been coming out to see to my chipper now for eerrrm, 14 months.

gomataro, i dont like a long silky blade personnal. if its too big for my gomataro then i use my saw. i think that its better to keep it simple and not have some samurai sword flapping around.
