Hamas big reduction/pruning thread!

Recommended Posts

O.k by popular demand and request i will be taking a few shots of pruning cuts up close and personal, not easy given the schedule at work at the mo but bare with me and those that asked shall get what they have asked for.

has anyone got anything in particular they would like to see? is it the cuts themselves or the position in relation to the remaining growth point?

Could you show laterals where they spread at the end of the branch and what you would chose to remove .What i like about this thread is you are looking at every tree in its own merit not by what a book says .

I pruned a medium sized beech the other day the customer wanted to remove a huge limb and i refused to do it in the end he went for a reduction lesser evil reductions have there place and kept this tree standing:thumbup1:

All trees, not just species are to be treated as individuals with their own very unique circumstances and needs/considerations.

Reduction isnt just a choice, it is a perfectly valid and viable managment tool, i would even go so far as to say it is the very BEST tool we have for managing the compromises we are having to manage with trees in the urban context, and to an increasing degree, ancients and veteran trees in less than urban environments due to the sue culture we have adopted from the U.S

Just to prove he can still do it, the boss got up one today! that will be his kits outing for this year! :001_tt2: sorry Jhon, you had that coming!

Now as I said earlier in this thread and got shot down for, reduction does not always mean a ball of frithy ugly regrowth, we do this one every 3-4 years and 6th time this time round.
