My ex misses has one on her stove. It's always whizzing round moving the air.

I'm going to drop her a load of wet willow off....that'll stop it:sneaky2:

"Are Ecofans any good" falls into the same bracket as "Husqvarna or Stihl?" unfortunately.

Many people think they're the best thing since sliced bread, and others think they're an expensive gimmick. They work best if you have a bit of a gap around your stove so they can draw cooler air over the fins at the back of the fan blade - they are not supposed to be plonked in the middle of the stove where the surrounding air is baking hot.

You should also be able to save a few quid on that ebay price. I think the manufacturers have a list of suppliers on their website - they're made by an outfit called Caframo.

Sorry I can't just say yes or no!

yep I got one - the 3 blade version. Makes a difference for me, we have the stove at one end of lounge and digital thermostat at the other and since the ecofan went in it has upped the temp by 1-2 degrees at the thermostat. Before, the heat was all down one end as we have quite a deep fireplace and it was all stuck in there..

I have 2 on my small stove, my house is small but the 2 fans push the heat out of the living room and around the house helped save on the oil. A mate brought them back from america better price.

Just got one. Lovely to look at and starts spinning fairly quickly after lighting. Not so sure how much difference it will make but winter will be the test of that. Lit the fire today even though its not that cold, as I just wanted to stretch out in the living room with the rain bouncing outside

I am a local agent for Ecofan. I have one on my showroom Morso Panther 8kw stove. This sits on the rear of the stove and push's hot air rising from the stove in front of it out into the room. It creates an airflow in the room ( but no draughts!) that silently brings the hot air down from the ceiling. I have 10 foot ceilings in the showroom and the stove is the only form of heating. Without the fan I am cold but the ceiling is roasting, with the fan the heat is evenly spread.

You wont see the best of it without a big or rear flued stove, a normal top flued 5kw stove will not normally have the room for the Ecofan to sit on the rear of the stove and for the blades to clear the flue pipe. The two bladed one has a smaller blade diameter which might help. Putting them in front of the flue pipe reduces their effectivness.

With a low ceiling height again the effect will be reduced as the room warms from the ceiling down. Thats why some people love them and some dont. I usually allow customers to borrow one for a night to see for themselves, usually they remain sold but not always.

Please be aware that fake chinese copies of Ecofans have recently been found in the UK,

the genuine importer is Calfire Ltd, you should be able to find your local stockist here:
