ex army duffle mate. Mine's nearly ten years old, used every day and still going strong. And cos they're canvas you can 'feed' them with tent stuff that makes them last longer. I got a sailmaker to cut one down for my climbing rope, rehem it and put the flap back in and eylet it and it only cost me a drink! Have got a full sized one for lowering gear.

Ive used the stein rope bags most recently. It seems to be one of the better ones

around at the moment. The spings that hold the bag rigid are a great idear and makes it easy to feed the rope back in and it also helps the rope feed out of the bags as well. the only thing is that i dont know if it would take a hit very well. Ive used a few types of rope bags of rope bags. I have found that if you want a rope bag that like a rucsack, caving rope/kit bags work well. They are strong and genarly made of rubberised material so they are very waterproof, and seen to be quite cheap. You can find ones that are made by smaller suppliers and not dig brand names.

My boss has one of those sherril rope bags. Its lovely, I think he got it from honey brothers at the arb show and it cost a lot less than its listed for. I also really like the proclimber rope bag.

I really hate rope bags that are not waterproof.

My rope bag is made out of an old pair of jeans. Its crap.
