Poppy toppy

This is on a job i was at a few weeks ago, got a spare groundie to video this for me, it went perfect :D

Nice topping, but if that had gone backwards that pull rope would have done f-all! Not with about 18 inches of leverage.

 

Whilst watching thats exactly what i was thinking.... that rope would of been at better use for pulling if it was much higher.

 

If i had gone wrong maybe we could of seen our first astro-arborist.:lol:

Yeah I know. The pulling line was more there for a sideways pull if anything. And watching the video again it does seem the better idea now. It was all weighted to come down in that direction. The limb on the opposite side to me was weighting it towards another tree. The line was there to pull against it. We were very pushed for time that day as I had another 3 pops to crown lift so wanted to take as big a piece out as possible. I wanted tofell it but it would either go into a tennis court fence, a wooden fence on an alleyway, or roll off it's neighbour and hit the tennis court fence!
