Hello.

I have a new single cab hilux, great truck but the lane assist is driving me nuts. If I swerve round pot hole or on narrow bit of road it pulls truck back in if I don't indicate. I know I can turn it off every time I start it but does anyone know a way way to turn it off completely or have as an option (great on motorway but not towing 3.5t on Oxfordshire crap roads).

Be nice to turn of the beeping every time the speed limit changes too

That sort of thing drives me nuts also . I had a Nissan Duke as a loaner whilst my truck was in for warranty work . It " bong bonged " continiousely . Every time you went past a max speed sign

it went " bong " . Every time you exceeded the speed limit by 1 mile an hour it went " bong bonng " . An ivisible hand grabbed the wheel if you neared the white line . I hate it .

I deon't know if you have a button that turns it off but it usually defaults to on every start up . Its taking away controll from the driver I feel .

interesting problem - from the comments on youtube (good old fashioned sticky tape!)

On models after 24, this function is always activated after starting the engine. My solution for new cars is British style. I simply taped over the camera installed on the windshield. This did not cause any complaints from the system, plus the system does not read road signs and does not issue distracting messages on the dashboard. Cruise control and adaptive systems using the front radar work perfectly (I checked).

Is it not possible to have  it deleted in the ECU with a remap? Along with a telephone directory-sized list of other unecessary gimmicks for deletion while it's plugged in.

I bought a Japanese import motorcycle years ago and it had red warning light that came on at 80 kph to tell you to slow down. I deleted this intrusive function with a piece of black insulation tape. Thankfully there was no bong. Not that I'd have heard it...

I only experienced it for a few hours on a courtesy car and not only was it very annoying but I got fed up with it dragging me back into a pothole or a car I was trying to avoid.

I have been told if you disable it some insurers may not pay out if you have an accident and they find out. This may not be the case but possibly worth checking.
