My take on oriental manufacturing is it’s all in the QC. They’ll do it right if a white man tells them they’re not going home until they have. The more legit Chinese shopfronts like Loncin I imagine have hired western managers who won’t let shit out.

Was going to say just this, 2 quite different although not entirely opposite results

I think its to do with price . If you ask them to make a saw for £30 they will .  If you ask them to make a saw for £530 they will oblige also . It wont be the same saw .

Yes exactly!  In the west we send a design to a factory and they say 'that's gonna cost £100 to make'.

In China they say 'how much do you want to pay and we'll make it to suit the cost'.  Back to front but its how it is.

I think western companies get greedy, and think of a ridiculously low figure to increase profit, then wonder why no one is happy with the quality!

Considering Hayter (a premium brand manufacturer) have decided to now fit Loncin engines to their flagship Harrier 56 range, then, yes I agree with others, they are pretty good. We haven't had many issues....we are a dealer for Hayter, so we would know as we have to do warranty. The Hayter engine in the pic is branded as a GTS engine, but it is a Locin engine.

Smart move by Hayter, I've always said a Chinese Honda copy is better than a genuine Briggs.

Well, the 'base' model Harrier 56 has the Loncin 'GTS' engine, the BBC and Keystart models have a Briggs engine, and the PRO models have the Honda GCVX engines (as when asked as part of a pro consultation forum, the Honda lump was the preferred option for pro users)
