I renewed with Trust so they still have my CS38 cert, no further questions. Looking at HSE news roofers keep falling off roofs, but there was a tree bloke recently who fell trying to get down from a stuck mewp so falls from height are a hot topic.

@woody paul

Sorry, just seen this -how did you get on?

I'm currently struggling to get a reasonable renewal quote, for EL and PL insurance, here.

Was with NFU for a couple of claim-free decades, until they decided to try and double my premium !

So then moved to Arborisk for 10+ (claim free) years, until they/Aviva wanted a 50% increase..whilst turnover etc declining..

So moved the policy to Howdens brokers last year (£1k), but now have that familiar sinking feeling -waiting for renewal quote with 'new' insurer...

Tried trade specialist Consilio Brokers, who implied any EL and PL policy would really be starting at £1.5k

There's a consistent 50% increase theme running here...

I'm clearly in the wrong line of business -need to diversify into money printing/insurance!

Meantime, can anyone else suggest brokers worth trying, pretty please ?

🤗

Stayed with them in the end, told them straight been doing trees for 30 plus years no claims, and would take business elsewhere. Came back with quote only a little bit more then last year. I have £10m cover,

Broker is Performance Direct, can't remember who I found them years ago, just they did advertise on here.

With trust here. Every year you now need to fill out a form detailing the different areas of your business and what percentage your turnover is of each sector. I find it tedious as nothing changes in my situation, bit like the National Trust asking for my tickets every blasted year, see the fecking email I sent you last year and forward it onto yourself you jeb!

I’ve just received my renewal declaration from Trust.

I doubt it’s going to be less than last year.

Mate just had a £900 increase with his insurance company which he kicked off about so they reduced it to a £50 increase.

Isn’t that just them admitting they were trying to rinse him for £850?

That's the business they are in, easy bloody money. Being a broker, assuming most companies we deal with are brokers, they just wack as much money on as they think they can get away with.

I work with somone that uses Business Choice Direct for PL. His was roughtly £500 for the renewal but has been with them a few years.

I was suprised that many insurers put a height exclusion - apparently the first time it was 10m, he didnt read it closely and a customer pointed out, so he had to phone up and got it changed. Anyone else had that?

Quote

999 - Height Limit (30 Metres)
We will not be liable in respect of Injury or Damage to property caused by or in connection with work exceeding 30 metres in
height, above the surrounding floor or ground level.

While we have to have it, its not really worth the paper its written on!
